Open Day at the Max Planck Institutes -
November 8th 2008 – Munich, Germany
November 8th, the Max Planck Institutes of Neurobiology and Biochemistry opened their doors to the general public. In order to give a detailed insight into the work at the institutes a various number of talks, information desks, lab tours and discussions with the scientists were organized onsite, gathering as many as 6'000 people!
NeuroNE took part to this event presenting various interactive activities to the visitors. A hands-on visitor's and children's lab led by Dr Lizzie Burns and Isabelle Weiss provided a fun way to conduct small experiments and to create a take-home brain model.

NeuroNE organized one of the social events of the FENS meeting.
Everyone was invited to join us at our party with the opportunity to try a popular part of our outreach programme. The build-a-brain in play dough activity was guided by Dr. Lizzie Burns, a scientist-turned-artist.

ART OF THE BRAIN - SCHOOLS WORKSHOPS
January – February 2008, Cambridgeshire, UK

Fifteen University of Cambridge scientists joined scientist-turned-artist Dr Lizzie Burns for an outreach project at ten Fenland schools in the run-up to the Cambridge Science Festival 2008. Pupils got the chance to explore how the brain works using modelling techniques to create sculptures of the brain.

PUBLIC DEBATE ON STEM CELLS BETWEEN A NEURONE SCIENTIST AND A CARDINAL
The Italian Neuroscience Society and NeuroNE will hold a public debate. The conference will focus on ethical aspects of possible applications of embyonic stem cells research in neurodegenerative diseases. It will take place at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia, Verona, Italy.

ART OF THE BRAIN

Get creative by learning how to sculpt a brain and paint or draw your brain cells. Find your hidden creative skills and learn about your brain at the same time.
This workshop gives you the chance to sculpt a brain using air-dough, led by Dr Lizzie Burns, a science-based artist.
