About INSERM Transfert
INSERM Transfert, a subsidiary of INSERM, is a public limited company
which links closely with the INSERM European department, and possesses
extensive expertise in two core areas. Technology transfer and the
funding and creation of biotechnology enterprises represent one
of the core expertise.
To facilitate this INSERM Transfert invests significant effort
to sensitise researchers of this opportunity. This has proved to
be very successful as through sequential funding activities it has
now raised over 40 million Euros (in 2002) in partnership with European
and American financiers for the creation of 8 new enterprises. This
has resulted in the combined generation of more than 100 jobs. Additionally
in collaboration with INSERM, it has generated a revenue of 10 million
Euros/year from out-licensing, and a further 20 million Euros/year
from contracts.
The second core expertise is dedicated project management activities.
This encompasses the management of clinical trials which are presently
underway in 21 clinical research centres (co-ordinated by INSERM).
More importantly INSERM Transfert has a dedicated project management
team of 6 experienced project managers working on Networks of excellence
(n=6), Integrated Projects (n=2) and Specific Targeted research
projects (n=9) who have expertise in managing international projects,
either within Europe or developing countries, and between academia
and industry.
As a result of these combined experiences INSERM Transfert now
includes expertise in intellectual property protection, business
development, financial management and planning, scientific direction
and assessment, marketing, international relations, risk management,
planning and execution, communication, public relations, and knowledge
of both academic and private research structures.
